To assist you further with eTeller Internet Banking, we have compiled the following list of Frequently Asked Questions.

Passwords

I have forgotten my password.
Contact the Credit Union on 1800every1 (1800 383 791), during business hours, so we can reset your password.

My password has been stolen.
Ensure that you inform the Credit Union immediately. Call 1800every1 (1800 383 791) during business hours.

My password is being entered correctly; however, the system is advising that it is invalid.
Passwords are case sensitive. Enter password again while ensuring that each character is formatted correctly.

In which format should my new password be? .
Password must be at least four (4) characters, with a maximum of eight (8) characters long, contain at least one number (0-9) and one letter (A-Z, a-z), but spaces. Remember your new password will be case sensitive.  We recommend using something that is not easy to guess like Birthdays etc.

I get the message ‘your connection has timed out or been canceled. Please re-enter your password’.
After a five-minute period of inactivity, you will be logged out automatically and prompted to verify your password for security purposes.

Security

Is eTeller Internet Banking as safe as other forms of account access?
Yes. So long as you follow the basic rules which should be applied to banking in general.

  • Never communicate your password to others.
  • We can protect your data, but your password is your responsibility. Change it regularly, never write it down, and create a unique set of Characters that form this password.
  • Do not leave a connected session unattended.
  • Passwords are a unique signature to your account.

How are my personal details and account balances protected?
We have placed the utmost importance in ensuring that your funds and account information remain secure from unauthorised access. All information that is passed between our systems and your PC is encrypted, and must pass through various firewalls that protect our systems.

Is your eTeller Internet Banking service secure? I have heard that the Internet is not a secure environment.
At ECU Australia we recognise that it is of crucial importance that our service can bear examination and pass tests associated with its reliability, integrity and security.

ECU Australia’s eTeller Internet Banking has various security features that protect both the member and ECU Australia. These include:

  • Browser login page encryption
  • Optional e-Token/SMS Token Login Authentication
  • Mandatory Token Secuirty with higher then default BPAY/Funds Transfer External Limits
  • Crypto-keypad password input
  • Password anonymity
  • Member chosen passwords
  • Login page unable to be cached
  • Timeouts for inactivity when session opened
  • 128-bit encryption
  • Host system security
  • Audit trails
  • Account accessibility parameters
  • Optional SMS Security Token Login Authentication


How does the eTeller Internet Banking system authenticate me as the account owner?
We use password verification for authentication purposes. Should the password be incorrectly entered after 3 attempts, your account is locked and cannot be accessed for a lockout period.

What is the minimum browser versions supported by ECU Australia's eTeller Internet Banking?
ECU Australia's eTeller Internet Banking supports the following browsers:

Platform: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP/Vista Windows

  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher (recommended)
  • Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or higher
  • Opera 7.03 or higher


Platform: Macintosh OS (Operating System) 8.6 +

  • Safari (OSX only) (recommended)
  • Internet Explorer 5.0 – 5.2 (recommended)
  • Firefox 3.0 or higher

Platform: Linux

  • Firefox 3.0 and higher

Business Banking Compatible Browsers
eTeller’s optional Business Banking module will only work on Windows (i386) and Internet Explorer only. We can only recommend and endorse Internet Explorer for sound and stable operations.

Transfer Limits

We have implemented both BPAY and External Funds Transfer limits in eTeller.  At default, both are set to $1,500 per day per membership.  If you require a limit greater than the default, it is mandatory that you have active Token Security on your account.  For more information on limit increases, phone your local branch on 1800every1 (1800 383 791).

eTeller Features

Is a BPAY service provided by ECU Australia's Internet Banking?
Yes. You can access BPAY by clicking on the ‘BPAY’ option in the top navigation menu. For more information, please refer to the BPAY section in the Terms and Conditions.

Are bill payments debited from my account online?
No. All methods of bill payment rely on funds being available on the date you have requested the bill to be paid. Bill payments are ‘one-off’ payments that are generally debited from accounts on the morning of the following working day.

When I request a transfer of funds, does the funds movement reflect in my account balances immediately?
Yes. Funds Transfer Internal adjusts the associated accounts online, thus these funds will become available for other uses.

Yes. Funds Transfer External. The available balance will be affected immediately. However ECU Australia transmits the funds to the receiving institution (payee) until 3PM each business day, excluding weekends and public holidays. Payments made after 3pm will be transmitted the next business day. Settlement is at the discretion of the receiving institution (may be up to 48 hours from the date of transmission of funds by ECU Australia)

Other

Can I access eTeller Internet Banking while overseas?
Yes. So long as you have access to a PC with a browser and access to an Internet Service Provider. Note: If using BPay, only Australian billers can be used. You can not pay overseas accounts/bills.

The modem I am using is old. Will I still be able to access Internet Banking?
Yes, but it will take longer to download and display information.

What is a cookie?
It's information that is written to your computer about sites you frequently visit. This information is accessed when you make future visits to the site. Cookies generated by eTeller are session cookies only and do not compromise your privacy or security. Cookie settings must be enabled in order to use eTeller.

A few important notes on Cookies for Internet Explorer: Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 provides the option to customize your privacy (cookie) settings. eTeller requires you to have your privacy setting set at either Medium or Medium/High to be able to access efficiently.

How do I enable cookies?

Internet Explorer 6 and 7:

Internet Explorer 6 is automatically set with cookies “disabled”. Your cookies need to be enabled in order to access eTeller. To ensure your cookies are enabled, follow these steps:
Open your browser
Go to “tools” option in the browser
Select the “internet options” from the options
Select the “privacy” tab
Scroll the slider down to at least “med/high”
