Kelsie was raised in Wondecla before moving to Atherton to complete her secondary schooling.
Whilst only 19 years of age Kelsie is already an experienced charity volunteer having been involved in various charity works both in Australia and overseas, a highlight being the three mission trips she has undertaken to Cambodia.
Kelsie said “These trips really opened my eyes to difference in cultures. I really enjoyed being able to help out with the feeding programs, hospital visits & teaching English. These experiences have really had a huge impact on my life this far”.
By entering this year’s Atherton Maize Queen Festival Kelsie hopes to raise much needed funds for her nominated charity, Tablelands Women’s Centre, plus to have fun, meet new people & gain more confidence in public speaking.
ECU Australia’s Atherton Branch Manager Wendy Judd said “We are very excited to be supporting Kelsie in this extremely worthwhile community event. The Maize Queen Festival is an iconic local event, which we all enjoy”.
You can help Kelsie in her fund raising efforts by dropping into our Atherton branch located in Silo Central and making a gold coin donation or purchasing an Art Union Ticket.
“Kelsie is a lovely young lady and we wish her every success in this year’s festival” concluded Wendy.
