Increase Of Card Skimming In Queensland

Following a recent increase in card skimmers located on both ATM's and EFTPOS machines in Queensland, ECU Australia are encouraging Members to be extremely vigilant at all times when using your card.

Skimming devices attached to ATMs and EFTPOS devices are designed to steal sensitive personal information off your card.  In advanced setups, cameras are often also fitted in an attempt to record PIN entry.

To assist with member education on PIN security and card skimming, ECU Australia, in conjunction with Abacus Fraud and Financial Crimes (FFC), have released an awareness guide.  This can be downloaded by following the link below.

If you believe your card has been skimmed, or if you have suspicions about an ATM or EFTPOS terminal due to it’s appearance or how the transaction was conducted please contact the Fraud Team at our Cairns Head Office on (07) 4046 8200.  You can also visit us at 93 Sheridan Street, Cairns, QLD, 4870.  For further information, please refer to the below guide.
