
Firstly this time, I must express our pride at having achieved 5 Star Cannex ratings for three of our products as well as a 4 Star rating on another. This is an outstanding result for your Credit Union and I applaud everyone involved with creating such highly acclaimed products.
But what do these ratings mean for your, our Members? Essentially that you have access to some of the best banking products available in the market right now – as rated by an independent group.
I’ll give an example to help you understand the importance: this year only 10 home loan products achieved a 5 Star rating and two of them were ours. That’s fantastic and means that you can choose our banking products, safe in the knowledge they are among the best products of their type in Australia. These products will benefit you, whether that’s via lower costs, better returns or other benefits. If you haven’t reviewed our 4 and 5 Star products, check them out.
On another note, ECU Australia is lending its weight to an industry-wide campaign promoting Credit Unions and Building Societies throughout Australia. Research clearly shows many people still don’t understand what a Credit Union is or how it can fit in with other banking and financial services. This campaign aims to change that.
By building the profile of Credit Unions generally, we aim to attract more Members which in turn will lead to improved products and services to Members. You see, Credit Unions exist solely for our Members so any additional revenue is returned to our Members rather than external shareholders to whom the big banks are committed.
